At Fratelli Homes Perth, we take pride in bringing our clients' unique visions to life. One of our recent projects in Iluka stands as a testament to this commitment. Our team worked closely with Sarah and Jean-Luc (JL) to create a stunning two-storey custom home that reflects their style and individuality.
This warm and inviting family home offers ample space for everyone to spread out across its two levels. Upon entry, the ground floor features a formal sitting room with french doors opening onto the front yard, a theatre room, a guest room with an ensuite, and an open-plan kitchen, living, and dining area that extends to the alfresco.
The kitchen includes a gas strut servery window that connects to the outdoor kitchen, making it perfect for entertaining.
Upstairs, the master suite is complemented by two additional bedrooms, an extra lounge with a kitchenette, and a balcony overlooking the street, providing the ideal retreat.
We’re honoured to have been a part of their journey and to have brought this amazing dream home to life. We sat down with the beautiful pair to discuss the inspiration and experience behind building their custom home.

1. What inspired you to choose this particular style and design?
Our home is a beautiful blend of different styles and designs that, to us, come together perfectly. Living along the Perth coast, I wanted our home to have a coastal vibe, but I didn't want to be confined to just the Hamptons style.
We were initially concerned that a purely coastal theme might limit our choices, so we decided to select materials and finishes that resonated rather than sticking to one strict style. The result is a coastal luxe aesthetic with earthy, organic touches.
We used a variety of textures and materials, like wood, rough stone, and warm porcelain, to create a space that feels balanced and true to us. We're so glad we trusted our instincts throughout the process; our home feels like the perfect blend.
2. Why did you choose Fratelli for your home build?
When we first discovered Fratelli, we immediately felt a personalised, custom build experience that stood out from other builders. Many builders claimed to offer "custom designs", but they kept trying to push stock plans on us, which wasn’t what we wanted for our beautiful new block.
We were looking for a 100% custom design that would suit our needs and maximise the potential of our block. From our first meeting, Fratelli listened to our vision and made us feel like our dreams were heard. They promised a truly custom experience, and that’s exactly what they delivered, from start to finish.
They were attentive to every detail and worked closely with us to ensure that our ideas and inspirations were fully realised. The result is a home that truly reflects our style and personality.
3. Can you share any standout moments or highlights from your experience with Fratelli?
The team at Fratelli was definitely the highlight of our experience. From the wonderful ladies in administration to our client liaison, management, and our building supervisor—everyone was patient, supportive, and truly outstanding.
We always felt heard, and no issue was too big or small to address. We didn’t have many issues, but in any build, things can happen, and it’s how those issues are resolved that really matters.
Our site supervisor always went above and beyond for us, and the office staff were quick to listen and rectify any concerns. The way Fratelli handled everything made the whole experience so much smoother.
4. What are your favourite features of your home?
My favourite features would have to be all the finishing touches that make our home feel so warm and welcoming. The softness of the wood floors, the elegance of the balustrade, the luxe vibes of the brushed brass fixtures, and the character of the French doors—I'm obsessed with it all! It’s hard to pick just one, so I’ll say all the finishing touches. Our front elevation is another favourite.
JL's favourite feature is the kitchen, and our six-year-old daughter loves living in what she calls a “double decker” house. We’re all so happy with our beautiful home, and we feel incredibly blessed that Fratelli played such a big part in making this dream a reality.
5. What was the inspiration behind your choice of beautiful statement lighting fixtures?
There was a lot of inspiration behind our feature lighting. Every fixture was carefully chosen with the help of Bec and Steve at Lightingales in Perth. Their passion for lighting really helped me achieve our vision of coastal luxe with earthy, organic vibes, while also ensuring each light was a standout piece.
We didn’t want just your standard pendant lights, we wanted each fixture to be a statement on its own. For example, our void pendant light has a beautiful scalloped feature and organic wood texture, tying into the overall theme. The kitchen pendants match with the void light, keeping the spaces cohesive.
Each feature light in our home was selected to not only fit the brief but to stand out as a unique element in the design. I’m so grateful for the time and passion Bec and Steve put into helping us choose the perfect lighting for our home.
